In case my post is overlooked in the recent Mazda 6 article, I figure I come here to inform as well. Also, the Mazda 3 is offered in AWD as well.
Here’s a screen cap from the Axela/3's page:

Could use more snow removed, and probably winters, but there’s footage of a real life awd Mazda 3.

I was just thinking about this the other day.... people give Americans shit for wanting/NEEDING AWD in every car they buy, but that’s been the norm in Japan for DECADES.
Ain’t like it snows any more or less over there than parts of here.

In an interview with CarAdvice, Masahiro Moro, Mazda North America’s president and CEO, said there’s a big demand in the U.S. for AWD, so Mazda’s looking into it.
“I think we are not able to combine four-wheel drive and the
2.5-liter turbo.
We have a layout issue with the sedans, that’s why a four-wheel drive isn’t deployed on the Mazda 3 and 6 so far,” Moro said. “But there is a huge demand, at least what I know is that in the East Coast of the USA, 80 or 90 percent of premium sedans are sold with all-wheel drive.”
It doesn’t matter if the AWD is available with the 2.2D and the 2.5 NA. I have a feeling the AWD is going to be offered only on the 2.5NA notthe 2.5T which is a bummer. By the way, the listing has disappeared from the site. https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2018/MAZDA/MAZDA6/4%252520DR/AWD#safety-ratings-frontal
